Hi all-- I'm trying to figure out which city in the Cotswold region to catch a train to York? We're planning on renting a car while in the Cotswolds so we would drop off the car before catching a train to York.
Thanks for the recommendations!

Just my opinion - I think the closest larger town would be Oxford and you could get a train and I'm sure there are rental return places in Oxford. I have not researched the train routes Oxford to York.
Oxford is the nearest station with express rail services, but do make sure that you can drop your car off there.
We took the train from Bath to York; I think we changed trains somewhere west of Bath, but it didn't take long.
Direct trains go from both Oxford & Cheltenham to York. See www.nationalrail.co.uk
Pre-book ahead (11 weeks out would have the best prices) a specific train to get the best fares. Pay on the day can be expensive.
The train company on these routes is www.crosscountrytrains.co.uk - so, book with them.
There is a direct train from Oxford to York at 10:15am and 11:13am. It's a 3 hr and 25 minute ride.
