I thought I was smart and had this all sorted, but I seem to have underestimated the time it will take me to get from Ambleside to MAN for an 11:10 flight on Thursday 25 September. Here's what I've found - earliest bus from Ambleside to Windermere leaves at 6:50 and arrives at 7:04. Train from Windermere to MAN leaves at 6:42. I have not been able to find an Uber/Bolt type option to get me from Ambleside to Windermere any earlier and don't see any taxi services online. Also, if I can get to the 6:42 train I am still a little troubled since it will get me to MAN at 8:27 and the airport website recommends 3 hours in advance of international flight. Guess I should have worked this backwards before booking my flight - rookie mistake! Any ideas from the pros before I go back to KLM to change my flight?

You need to get to Lancaster for the 0513, change Preston arrive 0702, or even better Preston for the 0523, arrive 0631.
The tradition on here is we use Davies' taxis of Keswick.
At that time of the morning if he gets his clog down Lancaster Station is 45 minutes and Preston Station 65 minutes.
I would be more than a trace nervous about an M6 closure due to an RTA (we've had far too many of those recently) or rail delays.
When the M6 closes every other road clogs up, it's a nightmare.
I would highly suggest the last train the previous night, and stay at the airport.

I was able to change my flight to a few hours later, so now I have a bit of cushion and have contacted Davies to see about getting to Windermere. Thanks again, Elsa
