Looking for advice from some past London theatre-goers. I'll be in London in mid-July and I'm planning to catch a couple of plays, one in the West End (Duchess Theatre) and one at the Globe. I'd like to get a cab afterwards back to my hotel near the British Museum. I'm wondering how exactly one goes about getting a cab during the busy post-theatre time of day. Are there designated taxi ranks nearby? Is it best to book in advance? Call for a cab when the show is over? If you have booked in advance or by phone, how did you and your cab go about finding each other?
Thanks in advance!
There will be cabs milling about. But nowadays, people use Uber. That would be my suggestion.

I just took the bus afterward. Use the city mapper app. It makes it very easy.
Just so you know, the Duchess Theatre is less than a mile from the British Museum (Bloomsbury)
The streets are full of people after shows get out and walking up to Bloomsbury is really, really safe. I walked it all the time at night. London has cameras everywhere so the police can keep an eye on things. It's not at all like big cities here in the states.
I was recently in London and saw a show at the Victoria Palace theatre; taking the tube was not worrisome at all at 11 pm back to my South Kensington hotel.
Most theatre goers will be taking a bus or tube, so getting a taxi shouldn’t be an issue - just wave one down.
