General question re TSA pre check

We bought our tickets to London before we went through the process to get our Known Traveler Number. I was hoping to add it to our reservations with BA so when we leave the US our boarding passes will be PSA -Pre check.

I know it only helps us on the first leg of the trip but any line I can avoid is great!

I called BA and they say they don't participate in the program so can't add it to my traveler information. But the person I was speaking with sounded like she had no idea what I was talking about.

Is it possible to add the Known Traveler Number to a reservation.

British Air does not participate in the program. An airline has to participate for you to get pre-check on your boarding pass.

Sorry it won't work for that trip, but you'll find it is very helpful for most flights and almost all US airlines participate.

To get it on your boarding pass on participating airlines, you need to enter the KTN into the system when you are making your reservation or add it to your profile info if you are in their frequent flier program. Sometimes you can have a ticket agent add it if you have the KTN and they can verify it.

Mrs EB.....the OP is asking about TSA Pre-Check not GE. An airline has to participate in Pre-check to offer the privilege to its passengers. Airlines have nothing to do with GE. Anyone with GE flying into the U.S. can utilize it if it is available.

Having a known traveler number means you have TSA Pre-Check. GE is tied to your passport, not your boarding card. When you get GE you also get a known traveler number to use for Pre-Check.

Right now, the only European airlines participating in TSA Pre-Check are Lufthansa and Virgin Atlantic.

Thank you! FWIW I have a Chase Sapphire Reserve card that refunds you the cost of TSA precheck or GE!
