Hotel is near Tower Hill underground. Did this last year, but for the life of me can't recall what we did.
I think we took Southern from airport to Victoria station, then underground to Tower Hill. Seems like there were a lot of steps. Ugh.
Is there a better route?

Train to London Bridge. Your choice after that: walk, bus, or cab.
I just stayed at a hotel across from London Bridge station earlier this year. Easy train ride from Gatwick. The one I took involved no transfers and took about 40 minutes. Escalators were available at both ends of the journey so you didn’t need to walk up or down carrying your bags. If you happen to have an Oyster card with about £10 on it then you don’t need to use the ticket machine.
So I do. Shouldn't type whilst still in bed ...
