Gatwick to Soho

Hi all
Thanks for all your help so far. Next step is getting to/from the airport.

Arriving at Gatwick at 930am on a Tuesday, departure at 1pm on a Friday.

We will have one carryon and one 24 inch suitcase, then another duffle on the way back.

Looking at options, I'm thinking the best bet when combining overall value with convenience is one of these:

Thameslink from Gatwick to St Pancras (46 GBP return for both of us), then taxi to Hopkins St hotel.

Thameslink or Southern to Victoria Station (64 GBP return) then taxi .

We know we could transfer yo the tube and then walk from there but with luggage that seems not very fun.

Any reason to pick the more expensive Victoria Station option?

Approximate cost for taxi from either to hotel?

Am I correct in thinking if I buy the "anytime return " option online that the times shown are just suggestions and we can board whichever train comes depending on when the flight lands etc?

Thanks again!

Blackfriars is closer
Ticketing to and from Gatwick is a very complex subject. You can use contactless cards, no need to buy ticket, on this route
Off Peak is £9.00 each using contactless but you will need to travel in peak period of your return journey
Hopefully someone will advise best option
Ps assuming we is two

pretty much smack dab in the middle of Soho. Just about equidistant from all 4 tube stops.

I agree that a taxi from Blackfriars to the Hub is shorter than from St Pancras or City Thameslink. Just be sure only to take Thameslink trains which stop at Blackfriars (same line as St Pancras but 3 stops (2 on the weekend) before.

I'm still trying to figure this out so any extra help would be super appreciated!

When I look online to book tickets on Thameslink it looks like the price is more than double if I book the "anytime" option.

I'm worried the flight could be delayed and we'd miss the train and have to re-purchase.

Do we wait to purchase tickets at the airport? Will the price jump if I wait to buy them there?

This is the last major hurdle before we leave in 10 days so I'll take all the help I can get.

Thank you all

It's £12.90 for an Anytime ticket from Gatwick to Blackfriars. From £9.00 if you use a contactless card or Oyster.

Just buy at station. No need to pre-book or buy online. Fares will be the same on the day.
