Best way via train to get to Cambridge from Gatwick?

Best is hard to quantify. Fastest? Most comfortable? Cheapest?

If I were doing it I would take the commuter train Thameslink from Gatwick to St Pancras International, cross the road to Kings Cross and a train to Cambridge from there.
