Gatwick to Bath and the Cotswolds

June 2022 plan: hubby and I fly into Gatwick from Canada early morning; train to Bath via Reading for 4 nights. Looking for a nice BnB or small hotel in centre of Bath, walking distance to station. We're looking also for a self-guided or small tour of a few Cotswolds villages as a day trip. Glastonbury, Wells, river tour in Bath, a few lovely things to do as we get over jet lag before going on to the Netherlands. Thanks in advance! (most replies to this type of question were quite dated)

Have you looked at the Mad Max tour that leaves from Bath? I hope to do it in September and it goes to Stonehenge, Avebury, Lacock and Castle Combe.

We stayed at Brooks Guest House on upper Bristol Rd and found we could walk to all the major places. But then we are big walkers. It might be a bit far from the train station with luggage, but it would be just a short taxi ride. You can check out the location by using google maps.

Will second the Mad Max tour, we did this in 2019 and it was excellent. You can look at their schedule for other options also. We stayed at the Ayrlington, really liked it, on the quiet side of the river and only a several minute walk to the Parade ground which is where tours depart from and is essentially the entrance to the center of town.
