My wife and I (seniors) bus from Heathrow and depart early next am from South Terminal. On later return in evening to arrive South Terminal. Would like minimum walking and max convenience for overnight stays. Have liked PI in the past and see 4 near the airport.
Grateful for any suggestions..
It looks like the Premier Inn that is closest to the south terminal is this one: https://www.premierinn.com/gb/en/hotels/england/west-sussex/crawley/london-gatwick-airport-south-london-road.html?cid=GLBC_GATGAT
As I’m sure you know, most Premier Inns are pretty consistent when it comes to what they offer, so you should be fine just getting the closest one to your terminal.
The Gatwick Premier Inn that we just checked into, the A23 Airport Way, is dreadful. Exactly one electrical outlet per room, a big problem for those who sleep with a CPAP. Almost impossible to get to on foot from the terminal area (requires a mad dash across a busy road with no crosswalk).
There's another Premier that's almost directly attached to the North Terminal. Stay at that one.
Easy to get from North terminal to South. Takes 5 minutes by airport train.
I'm going to suggest the Premier Inn at North Terminal for the easiest one to reach and least walking.
From the South Terminal take the free tram to the North Terminal. From the North Terminal Tram Station, it's a two minute walk to the PI.
I've stayed here. It's big and can get busy in the restaurant but it's a typical PI.
There are numerous hotels at or next to the two terminals at Gatwick:
