Gardens on our journey

Hello all,

We are traveling in June in the London, Bath, Cotswolds and Edinburgh areas and would love to visit some gardens close by. Could someone speak to good ones to visit?

Many thanks!

Hampton Court. I was just there, and the daffodils and crocuses were in already bloom. You could easily spend a half day enjoying the grounds and gardens. There was already activity underway to prepare the raised beds in the kitchen garden and trim the bushes in the rose garden.

In the Cotswolds, take a look at Hidcote - gorgeous. https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/hidcote

Not far away is Snowshill Manor & Gardens. The house is an extraordinary treasure house, and the garden is lovely.

Both are National Trust - which has a lot of properties with good house/garden combinations. If you're going to visit a number of them, an Overseas Visitor Pass might make sense. https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/overseas-visitors

In London, the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew is THE big one. But also take a look at Chelsea Physic Garden. Here's a good link for London gardens: http://www.visitlondon.com/things-to-do/openspace/garden/london-gardens#ZUYd0O1g1MS17EvA.97

Last summer my Master Gardner wife and a Master Gardner friend visited the Physic garden and quite enjoyed it.

If you spend a few hours at Hidcote, just a couple of hundred yards away is the private garden of Kiftsgate Court Gardens - the creation of three generations of women, world class in its own way. June will be the perfect time to see the famous Kiftsgate Rose.
