fun restaurants with kids- London

When travelling, we try and find fun or different types of restaurants. Our kids are 12 and 9..

Any recommendations in the city of London?

Thank you!

We took our granddaughters to London 2 years when they were your kid's ages. Some of their favorite places to eat were the garden cafes at Hampton Court Palace and Kew Garden. We also make an effort to go to My Old Dutch near the Holburn Tube stop for their plate sized savory "pancakes" when we take kids to London.

We've gone on Thames Path walks with our granddaughters and they liked the Pubs with outdoor dining and playgrounds because it gave them the chance to talk to other kids.

Also it's a fun experience to visit or eat at Harrods food floor. There is a restaurant across the street however where we've taken the granddaughters for tea.

EDIT: Overnight I thought of another one that we've been to several times but didn't have the chance to go to with our granddaughters two years ago. The Crypt at St Martins in the Field.

I also found several links on Timeout London. Many on the lists were geared to parents with younger children but some stood out like restaurants having tasting menus for kids or a Jamie Oliver restaurant with a sophitcated menu for older kids.

In addition to the Harrod's Food Hall and the Crypt at St Martin's, our Grandkids (ages 8-14) thought a 4 course Piccolo menu at the Pizza Express was very grown up-choosing and being served the different courses was a lot of fun for them. I believe there are several locations in London. They also enjoyed Wagamama. Here's a link for the Pizza Express "kids" menu: https://www.pizzaexpress.com/our-food/restaurant-menu/piccolo-menu

I do recommend the medieval banquet. It is a bit pricey and the food is perhaps not five star, but the overall experience is quite good.
My son was eight when we went and he loved it. I think 9 and 12 would enjoy such an experience.
People do tend to take advantage of the free ale, but nobody seemed too out of hand.

Have a good trip.
