Itinerary help from Yorkshire Dales to Heathrow

Hello travelers.
(I love the suggestions so far, but I meant to say we’d stay WEST of London. I’ve now corrected it…but I suppose we really could do either!)
I need some help with the final 5 nights of our 3 week trip to England.
Can anyone suggest how we best spend these nights before returning our car at Heathrow?
We will be driving south from the Yorkshire Dales area.
Assuming we keep west of London, we’ve already spent time in Cotswolds, Bath, Salisbury, Oxford and Windsor on previous trips.

We’re considering Bath again for a few nights, but that’s quite a drive for one day.
If we do decide on Bath, any suggestions for a route and perhaps a one night stopover along that route?
Or perhaps a different itinerary entirely for those 5 nights? We’re open to most anything.
Thank you so much!

If you enjoy history...visit the Richard III Centre in Leicester---see where his skeleton was found, & visit the Cathedral. Head west to the Battle of Bosworth field and museum.

I second Can Am Cherie's suggestion. Then you could route via Lincoln and/or maybe Cambridge- likely 'or' to avoid too many one night stops.

Take Day 1 to drive down to Leicester, day 2 at Leicester and environs, Day 3 to Lincoln or Cambridge, Day 4 there, Day 5- round to Heathrow feels reasonable.

Another possibility for your second stop would be St Albans.

Well, depending on how far south you want to go, you could stop in The Peak District, which is very beautiful and has lots of interesting towns and sights and gorgeous scenery. There's certainly lots of things to do and see that would fill up your 5 days. Timewise, it's just about a the halfway point, as it takes a little over two hours to get there from the Dales, then another 2+ hours to London as you just jump on the M1.

Another thought is Cambridge if you don't mind veering to the east a bit. It's not far off and has the added benefit of getting you closer to London.

I would route via the Peak District and Shropshire/Herefordshire/Powys. Both areas in my view better than the Cotswolds and in the latter case quieter as well.
