From Heathrow to Washington Mayfair

Greetings! Traveling with the London 7 days tour - first time! What is the best way to get from Heathrow to the Washington Mayfair Hotel after long flight - I am good avoiding the tub - I will have one checked bag because I will keep going to Edinburgh after the London tour (already have train tickets from London to Edinburgh) - thoughts and ideas most welcome!!!

Did you mean to say you’re “good avoiding the tube”? Without knowing any more, one of the best ways of getting to your hotel is to take the Piccadilly Line to the Green Park station and walk 4 blocks to the Washington Mayfair. We did this tour last June and that was our hotel, as well. Taking the Piccadilly Line was stress-free for us because we knew there were no changes. Another couple on our tour took the Elizabeth Line to Bond Street and walked to the hotel from there.

Hi IT,

Welcome to the forums. To get from Heathrow there are

  • Prearranged minicabs like blackberry cars. I have used them and would recommend. Minicabs along with black cabs would be the most expensive option but probably the easiest with luggage. They meet you outside customs and drop you at the door of your hotel.
  • Tube. As indicated above picadilly line will get you close and is the cheapest option. Probably the fastest too.
  • I can’t deal with the tube after a long flight and carrying luggage. So I use a hybrid approach. In this case I would take the Elizabeth line to Bond St station and take a short black cab ride to the hotel. I find the Elizabeth line to be much more comfortable because the train cars are much wider and you can walk to a less crowded train car on the inside. Also the stations are step free so there are elevators or escalators up to street level. Cost wise this would fall between the 2 other options I have listed.

Enjoy the tour and your trip!

You could also take a National Express coach to Victoria Coach Station and get a cab from there.
