From Bath to LHR (T2 United) Transport Recs Please

Hi.
My plans are firm now. I'll go from Bath to LHR for a 10 am flight from T2.
The fear of being late for a plane is no fun! What is the best way to go from Bath to LHR using public transport?
If it's best to go the night before, I'll stay near or at the airport.

(You've suggested hotel airports in another topic. It sounds like there are a number of good options.)

Thanks.
Lee

Last June we had a morning flight out of LHR T2 and decided to take the National Express Coach from Bath the afternoon before and stayed at the Premier Inn T2\T3 hotel. Was convenient, comfortable and had a good breakfast. Took the Hoppa bus from the hotel to the terminal. Liked that we had no transportation stress before our international flight and thus had a good nights sleep.

There is a Hilton Garden Inn at Terminal 2. I've stayed numerous times including a couple of weeks ago. It's a 5 minute walk, covered, to check in at T2.

To get to Heathrow from Bath, you have numerous options...

National Express bus from Bath to Heathrow

GWR Train to Paddington then the Heathrow Express or Elizabeth Line to Heathrow

GWR Train to Reading then the RailAir bus from Reading to Heathrow.

For train schedules use the National Rail site

Don't try to travel from Bath to Heathrow on the day of your flight. Too many things can go wrong.

Unless you are willing to get up at the crack of dawn to get to LHR 2-3 hours ahead
of your flight (sounds like 4am or to me), it's probably best to head to the airport the day
or early evening before.

The hotels inside the airport are a bit more expensive but will save you some time in
the morning. There are many hotels north of the airport along Bath Road that may be
a bit cheaper, but you have to take a bus (regular TFL or Hotel Hoppa) to get to/from
them.

You could take the GWR train into London the day before, stay around Paddington, and
then an early morning (7-ish) Heathrow Express or Elizabeth Line to the airport also.

If it's best to go the night before,

No "if" about it; it is best to go the night before

Definitely go the day before. Someone I know used National Express coach last week to get to Gatwick Airport. It broke down on the M4 and they had to call out a repair truck. Result was that this person got to Gatwick 30 minutes before take off and had to run like hell to get on the plane.
