Free time in London - Timing?

Has anyone taken the 14 day Best of England tour? We are planning for our upcoming tour and wonder when we should expect to finish the tour on day 13, after visiting the Tower and Thames cruise. The itinerary references that after the cruise, it would be a time to explore the rest of the day on our own. Since several museums require an advanced timed entry ticket to be purchased, we are not sure what time entry we would be comfortable purchasing in advance.

Any thoughts of suggestions would be appreciated.

Some museums may also have night hours. It appears that Friday is the most common day for this.

More information please. What, where and at what time of the day does the tour end?

Been going to London for decades. Happy to provide suggestions but need answers to the above questions.

Email the office. And also know it may be subject to change. Our Louvre and musee d'Orsay times were altered from our original itinerary on the RS Paris tour I took.

Whilst many museums suggest that you should book tickets in advance it’s only necessary for one or two. And most of them are free to enter. Many do have temporary exhibitions that you have to pay for but often they need to be booked well ahead anyway.

On our tour, we were at the Tower of London as a group when it opened then given a meet up time at the dock for a short cruise down to the parliament building where we were set free. My pictures say 11:30 am but I can’t say that’s absolutely true. Check with the tour office. It’s always hard to schedule something apart from the tour with a fixed time because stuff happens.

I agree with pbscd about contacting the office and asking for your specific tour. Sometimes the timings have to be altered for various reasons so it's best to know what times they've purchased tickets for on your particular departure date.

I'd also add that on my tour years ago we did the same as Margie's tour. I honestly could have skipped the boat ride as I'm not a big one for that sort of thing. I could have continued my day on from when I wanted to leave the Tower of London. IF you did that you'd make sure to tell your guide and your tour buddies so no one is waiting for you.

I echo that you should contact the RS Tour office. We’ve done that for similar situations (not the England tour though), and they’ve always responded with specific scheduling details. Then we were able to confidentially schedule our free time activities .
