We will be in London soon and taking part in a Whitechapel walk around the East End where the fictional character Jack Ripper once prowled.
We have been looking at real more gruesome events in ye olde Englande’s history and have become utterly intrigued by the events of Cromwell Street!
Somehow this seems to avoided the mainstream for the most part (English reserve maybe?) but Fred West killed and buried dozens of young girls in their backyard and fields while his wife Rosemary was reluctantly drawn in. Mr West died in prison during the 1990s whilst on trial and Mrs West is still incarcerated (I believe they don’t have the death penalty in England except for cases involving the royal family)
My questions are thus:
Is there a walking tour or such of Cromwell Street in the same way there is for Jack Ripper?
We like to get into the spirit of our historical vacations by dressing up. We have found a merchandiser online selling related t-shirts. Would this be seen as offensive during the trip?
Are they any other souvenirs sold nearby relating to the case?
What else is in the immediate vicinity to see? I understand it isn’t far from Wales on the map. Worth combining?
