Championship League Football in September

Want to get Championship League tickets between Sept 4 - 27. (Gave up on Premier League.) candidates seem to be Brentford, QPR or Millwall (had trouble with their web site). We are staying in Covent Garden area. Couple questions:

1 Which team / stadium would give the most authentic / enjoyable experience?
2 How far ahead do we need to book? Can we wait til a few days ahead to check the weather?

We are new to this, so any thoughts appreciated.

What do you mean by authentic? You'll be going to a football match, there'll be nothing fake about it. As for enjoyable, that depends on whether the team you're supporting wins or not.

I've not experienced a Brentford crowd but I have a QPR and Milwall crowd. Both have a good set of fans who provide a good vocal support with Millwall having a sizeable contingent fond of violence however in today's football policing this shouldn't pose a problem. Consider it a stroke of fortune that you've been unable to secure Premier League tickets as you're more likely to witness a more passionate atmosphere.

As for the weather, no-one cares about the weather, just go.

Looking at the fixtures you could potentially go to QPR v Millwall and kind of get 2 out of the 3.

Not quite sure where the weather comes in; football grounds at this level are all roofed although there may be some wet spots in particular stadia.

Had a look at the fixtures for your dates. I strongly advise against going to Millwall v Leeds - these two teams despise each other and probability of violence is high. All other games are on the table - best to me look like QPR v Millwall then QPR v Norwich.

As for ‘best experience’, I’d advise that experience is tied to your interest in the game. Do you want to go to a game because you’re a football/soccer fan? In which case you will have a great time whichever game you go to. You should only go to football if you want to see football, if you’re looking for an English experience it won’t be what you’re looking for.

You also have to get to the match and get back again afterward. All teams have some some "enthusiastic" fans and some who probably have one too many beers or whatever the current drink combination is, but Millwall is renowned for the unpleasant loutish behaviour on tubes, buses and trains.

Personal experience.

I recently got tickets for the Fulham home game on September 22nd. They just moved up into the Premier League, probably why tickets were available. Craven Cottage
is a great old stadium.
