Hi Forum-
Our family of five- kids age 25-20 are going to England- landing 12/27 leaving 1/2- we have been to London before looking to mix it up a bit- and are curious about spending a couple days in the country side or flying to Amsterdam- any thoughts are welcome. I lived in London as a child and have been to Amsterdam
Thank you!
Take the Eurostar Paris? Book tickets now to save $’s.
Of fly from London to Rome?
You’ll be in London for after Christmas sales if that is of any interest.
Thank you! We have done Paris Rom and Munich with the kids- they are looking to try something new1
Amsterdam it is or do something completely different and fly to Cairo Or Barcelona Or Athens Or Japan.
EOY in Europe? Go where the English go on vacation--Portugal.
Or, Budapest and Vienna.
The weather in the northern portions of Europe is just so hit and miss. That's when you go south.
I also grew up in England and while I love London, I also like to escape to the country. But keep in mind, sunset in London in December will be at 4:00 PM meaning long-dark nights. Activities in the countryside may be limited due to the weather and darkness. Also, will the 20-year-olds be OK will just sitting in a small country pub while it is cold, dark, and rainy outside? Instead, you may want to pick a destination that has more going on. You could train to York or Edinburgh, or if that is too far, perhaps just go to Cambridge or Bath. Another suggestion is to take the Eurostar to Bruges for the Christmas market. (I have not been, but I've heard it is wonderful from family members who have). I think that would be easy to incorporate into a midweek trip. I don't think I would waste time at airports flying to another European destination.
Good luck in deciding.
or flying to Amsterdam
Don't fly to Amsterdam if you decide to go there, take the train.
