There are several options for flying into England or Scotland from Dublin - It all depends on your itinerary. You may wish to fly into Scotland, take the train into London, and fly back from London to Dublin. RyanAir is a popular budget airline that has flights from Stansted (STN) and Gatwick. (keep in mind STN is about 40 miles outside of London). You may also get fairly comparable prices on BA or Aer Lingus - just go to the airline websites and check out pricing and luggage requirements. One word of caution on your return to Dublin. Just make sure you have plenty of time to make your Dublin - USA flight. I am flying back into Dublin from London (STN) the night before my American Airlines flight leaves Dublin for Chicago. You are essentially on separate tickets, so the airline has no obligation to get you back to the USA if you miss your flight.

You really need to be more specific on where you want to go. I've flown between Dublin and the UK a couple of times. You could easily fly to England or to Scotland. (I've done both.)

Why don't you figure out your itinerary in the UK first and then fly into the closest city where that starts.

If you are an American or reside in the USA, Remember, when returning to Dublin for your flight home that you will go through U.S. Immigration and Customs in Dublin rather than on your return to the U.S. So give yourself extra time.

We are going on the RS Villages of Southern England tour in May. Are Lingus just started flights from our home airport (Hartford - BDL) to Dublin, so we have booked round trip tickets. We will be staying in Dublin for a couple of days before the tour starts, then flying on Aer Lingus from Dublin to London Gatwick. Service is frequent, so we picked a flight that leaves Dublin in the early afternoon, in order not to feel rushed. At the end of the tour, we are staying on in Bath, then visiting friends in Wales. Our friends will drive us to the Bristol airport, from where will take a Ryanair flight to Dublin. We will stay in Dublin for one night and then catch the flight home. I considered Aer Lingus from BRS to DUB, but noted that they use propeller planes on that route (I prefer jets). I like the idea of flying from Bristol, since it is a smaller airport and easier to manage. For both flights we purchased the first level upgraded ticket that includes checked bags and seat selections.
