We are two older adults looking for the most streamlined way of flying from London to Milan (Linate probably). Any recommendations about which airline and airport to fly from?
You have quite a few options on this route. As you probably know, all the London airports are several miles outside the city but all have decent public transport links and which one is easiest to get to really depends on where you’re starting from.
Your main choice is between British Airways or ITA and one of the low cost carriers: EasyJet, Ryanair and Wizzair. Of these I’d always choose EasyJet as being the best. Use Skyscanner to assess all your options.

Except London City can you fly from there?
Just go to Google Flights, enter London and Milan (rather than specific airports), and your dates. Filter for non stops. Select the flight leaving from the airport most convenient to you. You're kind of spoiled for choice.
We flew LHR to MXP in September on British Air and it was fine. I chose them over a so-called low cost carrier because we needed to check our bags and by the time you pay for that and seats, you might as well fly on a mainstream (fuller) service carrier. We use MXP as it is so easy to jump on the train to Milano Centrale.
