Hi!
Will be spending a month in and about England from mid-April to mid-May, 2026. First week in London, April 14-21. What neighborhoods are safe and well-located places to rent from AirBnB or VRBO, or other UK home rental companies? Looking to budget under 1300 pounds for the week. Thank you.

Richmond, Highgate, Pimlico, Mayfair, Chelsea, Notting Hill, Camden, Bloomsbury, Kensington, Dulwich are all good neighborhoods.
Honestly you need to up your budget.

When you say "well-located," do you mean close to specific tourist sites? If you can share a bit more about what you are looking for I can help.
There will just be 2 of us so nothing bigger than 1 bedroom is required. "Well-located", for me, means we don't have to walk more than 10 minutes to get to public transportation, and that there are a few decent restaurants and pubs closer than that. We are big fans of live music and expect to indulge when and where we can while over there, so could use some tips on small venues that book good rock, punk, and alternative bands. Loud and rowdy is ok.
That's helpful to know! In terms of transport links, really anywhere in Zone 1 you'll be close to the tube and many buses. You can see Zone 1 in the centre of the map here with the white background: https://content.tfl.gov.uk/standard-tube-map.pdf
If you want to be very central, you could stay in Covent Garden/Seven Dials- lots of restaurants/pubs and also close to Soho and the West End. People on this forum often stay in Waterloo which is also well-located and you have a lot of restaurants/pubs on The Cut (the name of a street). If you want slightly more residential you could look around Holborn/Bloomsbury area.
However, if you are interested in small venues for rock/alternative, I would recommend looking at Camden Town, which might be a bit more what you are looking for. It's one of the cooler/more alternative areas (as are parts of Hackney altho you are reliant on the Overground, rather than the tube, if you stay there). My very favourite venue in London is the Roundhouse in Camden. Other good ones to look at are O2 Kentish Town, Koko, Brixton Academy, EartH, the 100 Club, and the Electric Ballroom. I would say most of these are medium-sized venues.
You can also try this website which aggregates live music around London, including very small venues: https://halibuts.com/
Good luck with your planning!
Check out the VESTO apartments. There are several locations throughout London. I just reserved a room at their Tower Bridge location for a trip I'm making in March. It's working out to be less than 200 USD per night for a full 1-bedroom suite.
