Fish restaurant in London

We are celebrating my wife's birthday in London in November and we would like to dine at a fish restaurant (NOT fish-and-chips).

We stay in Southwark but would feel fine taking a cab to anywhere in central London (i.e. within the circle line). My price range is somewhere around 50 - 60 GBP per person.

Can anyone recommend a nice place?

There's one in Borough Market just called FISH. I've never used it myself but it's popular.

We just went to the Borough Market today and I took a look at the FISH! restaurant--I'd seen your question this AM. It's fairly casual but it looked good. The whole market area is a foodies delight especially at lunch time. Here is their website so you can take a look. They have a picture of fish and chips on their website but the menu shows a selection of steamed or grilled fish too.

You may like Wright Brothers Oyster House, in Borough Market. Grilled fish of all kinds. Absolutely super.

I've eaten at Fish! in Borough Market... I wouldn't recommend it.

Thank you very much for your suggestions. I think we will try Sheeky.

Fish! looks more like a place we might drop in for lunch when we are shopping in the market :-)

That's exactly what Fish! is for, but again, don't bother.

You could consider Fenchurch in the Sky Garden, on top of the Walkie Talkie building... it's expensive, but probably within your budget, and you get a nice trip to the Sky Garden also, which is worth it. Booking essential. When I went to the Sky Pod Bar... they took a table deposit (£25 each, card details only to secure) at booking, encase of a no show, which considering the location, and that they don't take walk-ins, I thought was fair enough.

I've not eaten there personally (yet), but the food is excellent by all accounts.

** Checking the menu, it's not exclusively a fish restaurant as I thought it was (or was at opening), but it has some nice fish dishes.

The famous Sea Shell of Lisson Grove? It's really out of the way of most tourist traffic. Up on the west side of Regents Park. However, if you're on your way to Abbey Road Studios, it's sort of on the way.

Hi ramblin' on: Thank you for your recommendation of J. Sheekey. And thanks to everyone else who gave other recommendations. Unfortunately we could only visit one dinner restaurant on this visit

We had a wonderful dinner and the service was superb. A bit on the expensive side as you mentioned, but worth it :-)
