Would it make sense to go to Paris and day trip to Brussels? We have been to Paris before so looking for other locations within a two hour train ride. Need to be back to fly out of Heathrow on Wed.
What tour are you on? Why not stay on in London a few more days; there's always more to see.
Must be the Best of England

I would spend more time in London, too.
There's so much to see and do in London, so I'd stay there. Or perhaps go to York or Bath. Both would be great for a couple of days. From Bath you can take a Mad Max tour out to see Stonehedge as part of a day long mini tour. Both are easy train rides from London.
If it's the Best of England, Bath and York are already on the tour.
I'd stay in London too but if you must, you could take a train to Paris. IF you do that, I'd fly home from Paris and not waste time going back to London. I do not think a day trip to Brussels is a good idea with just 3 full days in Paris. IF you want to go to Brussels, take the Eurostar there from London and then fly home from there.
If you have been on the Best of England tour and want to do day trips from London then you could do Oxford, or Canterbury, Portsmouth or Bristol- lots and lots of worthwhile places in a 2 hour radius by train.
You could even do a mini 2 or 3 day trip to Canterbury for Kent.
Or go to Edinburgh for a few days.
How about heading to one of the smaller towns or villages and dropping out there. Rye, Winchester or Salisbury would all fit the bill.
We're doing Best of England this year as well, and plan to head back to York for a few days after the tour, then back to London for about a week. Yes, the tour spends time in York, but I know we'll want to spend more time there on our own.
Ditto London; the tour spends the last couple of days there, but again, we will want to see and do more than the tour allows time for.
kasearing, I'm sending you a PM.

Wow, great responses. We are doing the 8-day Heart of Scotland tour and then the 7-day Best of London tour.
Either Canterbury and Salisbury for a few nights would be my pick. Both cathedrals are amazing and Salisbury also offers Stonehenge which I loved; likely because we spent extra to do the inner stone tour at Sunrise.
Now that you’ve clarified you will have already been in London a week on tour, give yourself a taste of England beyond London. Depending on the time of year, your interests, and your energy, you could do day trips from London or you could settle yourselves for a few days in a third location.
“Day trip” ideas in greater London not covered(?) on your tour: Wimbledon, Greenwich, Hampstead and Hampstead Heath, Richmond, Kew Gardens.
“Day trip” ideas beyond London: Winchester, St Albans, Oxford, Cambridge, the Cotswolds (Becky’s Secret Cottage Tour, or others), Highclere Castle, Hampton Court Palace, Bletchley Park.
“Stay for a few days” ideas: York and the Yorkshire Dales; Bath; the Seven Sisters on the Sussex Coast South Downs Way (Eastbourne, Beachy Head, Alfriston).
I think you are smart to think about this. London is so big, and it is easy to get overwhelmed and not end up doing anything really! Make yourself a list and do what you feel like of it. You are in London, Brussels and Paris are whole other destinations. I would stay in London if you haven't been before or don't know it very well.
