We are ending a cruise in Southhampton next Spring. Since the ship usually docks in the morning and we can't check into the hotel until afternoon we were thinking of getting a car/driver meet us at the docks and drive us to London making a couple scenic stops along the way. Can anyone recommend how you go about finding a reputable driver?
Thanks!
I would start with the web site for London and see if any ads. Contact the Black cabs and see if they have any private drivers. Some of our London folks will probably pop in. Given the distance from London I am guessing the fare would be pretty high.
A friend just used Blacklane for the exact same trip - it was 190 GBP. You can reserve ahead of time on their web site - blacklane.com
you could also chat up the people that Rick recommends as private guides, they would likely know people (or perhaps want to do it themselves)
Most cruise lines have excursions on departure that stop by either Stonehenge or Windsor on the way to London. Check with your cruise line.
I can recommend AJS Travel, we use Scott pretty much every time we need transport to the airport. Other forum members have used the company with no issues. They operate from Portsmouth and regularly undertake services from Southampton cruise terminal to London.
