Any experience with Ferry & Train combo, from Belfast to London? On forum saw a last April post for train, London Euston station to Holyhead Wales with ferry, to Dublin; and wondered about a similar trip from Belfast. Looking at options following Rick's Ireland 14 day tour ending in Belfast.
The fastest and cheapest option is usually to fly; see www.skyscanner.com.
There are three logical ferry routes:
The route via ferry to Cairnryan includes a bus link form there to Ayr and another train connection in Glasgow. Tickets can be picked up in Belfast.
You can also take a train back to Dublin and then continue via Holyhead. This route also comes up in ticket searches at www.nationalrail.co.uk.
The Stena line link describes needing a UK mailing address to receive combo tickets if starting with the Belfast-Liverpool ferry. It might be easier to buy those pieces separately. See https://www.stenaline.co.uk/ferries-to-britain/rail-sail.
The Irish Sea can be pretty rough and you'll have a lengthy (from Liverpool) or VERY lengthy (from Cairnryan) train trip to London. My recommendation would be to take a Flybe flight from Belfast to London City which is the closest airport to the centre of London.
Laura and Philip, thank you--Andy
