Please tell me your favorite things of the Cotswalds! No time restrictions or budget. Thank you!
The model village in Cheltenham, Hailes Abbey, walking the Cotswold Way, Broadway Tower, Sudeley Castle, Chastleton House, Snowhill Arms in Broadway, The Lion Inn in Winchcombe. The Plough Inn at Ford, and just driving around.
We liked the village of Broadway and walking up past sheep to further and further views, to Broadway Tower. We did it three times. There is a cafe/restaurant at the top. : )
Golf up on Cleeve Hill in the wind (lots of wind) and perhaps rain, with the deep bunkers it resembles a sassenach links. Add in the casual sheep and it becomes a genuine challenge. And the views (if the wind and rain give a break) are fabulous.
I also like Morris Men on the green in Broadway, and fairly often at the National Trust pub near Evesham, the Fleece in Bretforton, slightly off the edge of the Cotswolds in the land of the best asparagus.
Cotswolds, by the way, is often understood to mean "an area of gentle hills with plenty of sheep around". Wolds = gentle hills; cots = sheep areas.
Come to the Cotswolds and you will for sure see lots of hills and plenty of sheep (and the lambing has started).
