Favorite London breakfast spots in Victoria/Pimlico?

My family will be staying in the Victoria/Pimlico area (between the two stations) and we are interested in good cafes and restaurants for breakfast as our hotel breakfast is extra and we imagine other options might be just as good and possibly less expensive. Options good for vegetarians/vegans and carnivores alike are welcome as we are mixed in our dietary preferences. Thanks in advance! (P.S.--Dinner recommendations welcome also.)

We ate a bakery called Gail's that is right in that area. The address is 26 Churton Street. It was really good! I just looked at their website and they have some vegan options, too

Try Regency Cafe, Regency street, SW1P 4BY, shortish walk from either tube stations,

This is a well regarded, established, no frills, traditional English greasy spoon cafe, cash only, and can get very busy.

It's not actually greasy, breakfasts are cooked to order and good value, the cafe interior and exterior are a rare bit of unaltered 60s London that is still visible, you can still picture mods with their Vespa scooters outside.

There is a chain restaurant around the corner from Victoria Station on Wilton Road called Le Pain Quotidien. I often eat dinner there but they are open for breakfast as well. It is a bit pricey so not sure if it's in your budget. The menu will be posted outside with prices so you can check and see if it meets your criteria. It has a number of vegan options which is why I like it.

BTW, their vegan chocolate cake is unbelievable. If YOU are the vegan I'd not tell anyone how good it is because you won't want to share!

I'll second that for an option. I'd avoid any place described as a greasy spoon cafe.

I'd normally agree with you about greasy spoons JC but the Regency is pretty good

OK, having never been there I'll trust your advice on this one : )

JC, best you not travel with us! In Sioux Falls SD years ago we made an abrupt U turn and a beeline for the diner advertising “Home of cold coffee and greasy food”. Who could resist?

A contrarian, I have enjoyed the English breakfasts served at the B&B hotels near Victoria Station but that said, have booked at the small hotels where breakfast if included. In part I am also on holiday and any premium price is worth the convenience of not having to walk around the neighborhood for a breakfast cafe.

I can’t point you to one but love the English breakfast in the small little shops with a short line outside. Worth the pounds it cost- both of them.
Safe travels and eat with the locals

Nothing wrong with greasy food per se, everything tastes better fried however the term 'greasy spoon cafe' refers to an establishment that sells cheap food at cheap prices and usually cooked and served with scant regard to hygienic standards. If you like sausages made from pink slime and deep fried for speed and bacon that's been pumped so full of water it tastes of nothing then a greasy spoon is for you. There are plenty of places serving good breakfasts but as I avoid London like the plague I don't really have much to offer in way of suggestion.
