I've seen several tube routes to get from Bedford Hotel in Bloomsbury area to Tower of London using the tube. Which route would be the fastest and most "visitor" friendly? Thanks
Can you better describe “most visitor friendly?”
Born when Truman was in office and throughly enjoy using the Tube in London.
Have you downloaded the TFL map?
IMHO from where you are staying I’d walk to the Russell Square station and board a Piccadilly Line train to South Kensington. Exit and board a District Line train to Tower Hill. Exit and you’ll find the Tower of London across the road.
Short answer, none.
Long answer, keep reading.
Download the super helpful Citymapper app to navigate the bus, tube and walking routes in London.
Best route will depend on the time of day and day of the week. The shortest and easiest route would be a short walk to a bus stop, bus to the Monument Street stop and then a short walk to the Tower of London.
Taking the tube would not save time or walking.
For this one I would take the bus (specifically the 133 bus). If you already have Google maps on your phone, that is what I use for transit directions when I'm not sure of the route. It also takes account of when there are planned closures on the tube for engineering works which is helpful.
I’d just take the tube to Kings Cross (one stop) and switch to the circle line and get off at Tower Hill.
I would not go to South Kensington as suggested above. That would take you longer.
One of the features I like about CityMapper app is up to date timings based on current conditions.
