Posted this under Portugal as well. Taking the RS Portugal tour which ends on July 7 in Porto then Best of London beginning July 9. Trying to decide on staying in Porto July 7, then flying onto London July 8 or just leaving Portugal and having another two nights in London. Never been to Portugal and not to London for many, many years. Is Porto worth another day and night? I'm pretty sure the hotel in Porto would be less expensive but that is not a major concern. Any thoughts?
I have been to both. Porto is ok , there would not be much to do with your xtra time. On the other hand London is a blockbuster of sights and activities.
One can never complete the list of fantastic sights for London. Even taking a ride on the thames river to Greenwich, Kew or Hampton Court.
London, hands down.
London. So many things to do that you won't do as part of your tour. Have a great time!
I took the RS Portugal tour this last June and had arrived in Lisbon 2 days before the tour began. I also had spent a week in London before flying to Lisbon. When the tour was over in Porto, I had seen enough of Porto that we returned to London which has SO much to see and do we never ran out of things to do. We really enjoyed the RS Portugal tour, our 14th RS tour. happy travels.
Why not fly to London and spend 2 nights just outside London. This guarantees you won't retrace your steps on your London tour. There are lots of great destinations about an hour from London by train - Cambridge, Oxford, Brighton, Salisbury, Canterbury or many smaller towns and villages.
Stay in Porto between the two tours. Stay a couple of days in London after the London tour.
