Exploring River Thames Dinner Cruise Options

Hello All,

My husband and I will be spending 10 days in London (mid-late October 2025). We hope to embark on River Thames cruise while we're there. Figured while we explore our options, might as well look into dinner cruises, too.

Would greatly appreciate any information you might have to share with us. I'm most interested in top notch experiences to consider - as well as cruises to avoid.

FWIW - I limited my RS Travel Forum search on the topic to post made within the last year. That led me to creating my own post.

Thanks!

Laurie C,

Thank you for sharing your experience. No doubt having a window seat would be worth the added expense!

I know dinner cruises are something done in other European cities, but not so much in London. I don't know anyone who has done one. Think your options will be limited.

It can be good to incorporate using the Thames to get to one of the sites - eg if going to Greenwich. You do get a different perspective from the river.

Howdy!
Recommend avoiding a “food themed” cruise on the Thames as a completely different vibe compared Paris. Absolutely recommend taking advantage of a river taxi, there is even an uber boat, so you can travel in the same transport as others have done for centuries. Give thought of being destined for the Tower of London using the water gate? Or how bad the odor would be from all the sewers dumping into the Thames? Or being on a fire boat seeking to extinguishing flames from being bombed during WWII? Be a bit flexible and seek a fair weather day with some sunshine (we are talking late October😁), pick your vessel and head to Greenwich during late afternoon. In Greenwich take a walk, find a bite to eat and then head back as dusk falls upon the city. You will gather two different perspectives from the river views. Brave the open air deck and gain additional views, just bring a sweater for a bit cooler on the water. Enjoy creating great memories!

Steven -

That's sounds like an idea worth exploring further. We've been contemplating a similar plan based on information shared above. Greenwich / Royal Observatory are on our list. Might make for a fun full day: daytime and night time cruises plus a visit to the Royal Observatory.
