We'll be spending 5-days in Wigan and have three free days. Any recommendations for walking or hiking tours in or around Wigan, Manchester or Liverpool? We want to avoid touristy attractions; searching for the uniquely local vernacular (Wigan pie barm). Prefer activities that are public transit accessible. Thanks.

When are you visiting? Catching a Wigan Warriors rugby league game if you’re there for a home game would be a something to consider.
