Exhibit showing history of Notre Dame de Paris at Westminster Abbey next year

There is a new exhibit starting at Westminster Abbey that will run from February through June called "Notre Dame de Paris, The Augmented Exhibition."

Explore the story of the French gothic masterpiece, Notre Dame de Paris (Our Lady of Paris) from its earliest origins in the 12th century and its illustrious 850-year history to its painstaking restoration following the devastating fire of 2019. This exhibition is an immersive and interactive journey through Notre Dame’s past including the lavish wedding of King Henri IV, the glittering coronation of Napoleon Bonaparte, and the 19th century construction of Notre-Dame’s iconic spire of Viollet-le-Duc, which was tragically destroyed by the fire. The skill, artistry and vision over the ages of its architects, craftsmen and builders, and the 21st century experts who are bringing it back to its former glory are brought to life in the show. More info on the website.

The exhibit, which will be held in the Chapter House, is free (early booking opens Dec. 1). It runs from Feb. 7, 2024 through June 1, 2024. It looks amazing and I'm so excited that I will be there for it!

Mardee, that does sound fabulous. I, like so many others, was heart broken watching the cathedral burn. My sister gave me a coffee table book of the history of Notre Dame the next year for my birthday. You've got me thinking I need to schedule a spring trip to London.

Laurie Beth, I had the same feeling when Notre Dame burned, and I'm happy that this exhibit is coming. Evidently it is a collaboration with "Rebuilding Notre-Dame de Paris" and is part of an upcoming series of events designed to celebrate the relationship between the UK and France. Such a wonderful idea!
