These are some of the events in Cumbria you may not be aware of in the next month. This is the peak month for festivals and local agricultural/horticultural shows.
They are a great way to meet local people, and learn more about the challenges of living and working in a National Park.
Also most of these are a good reason to go to less well known parts of the County.

28-30 July- Potfest in the Park at Hutton in the Forest- a showcase of Ceramic art

1 July to 3 September- Happy Birthday Peter Rabbit- Theatre at The World of Beatrix Potter, Bowness

2-29 August- Craftsmen at the Priory- a wide range of arts and crafts at Lanercost Priory, Brampton (very near Hadrian's Wall)
2 August- Cartmel Agricultural Society Show at Cartmel Racecourse
3 August- Lake District Sheepdog Trials at Ings
each Saturday at 1930- Windermere Lake Cruises Buffet cruise with live entertainment
6 August Fell Pony Society Breed Show at Dalemain Mansion, near Ullswater
every Tuesday- Sunset Sailing on Derwent Water
9 August- Outdoor Theatre at Brantwood (Coniston)- Robin Hood- repeated on 10 August at Lowther Castle
10 August- Appleby Show
12 August- Orton Farmers Market: Summer Treats (a monthly event)- off the A6 between Penrith and Kendal
12-13 August- Taste of the Sea Festival at Maryport- showcasing the local producers, and lots of live music

13 August- Classics over Sands- over 300 classic cars- at Grange over Sands
