Evensong at Westminster Abbey

I will be in London on Sunday, October 9th and would like to attend the 3pm Evensong service at Westminster Abbey. What time should I arrive? Is this a really popular/crowded service? I attended an Evensong service at King's College at Cambridge a few years ago and it was outstanding so I thought attending one at Westminster would be a memorable experience.
Any other thoughts/recommendations?

When I’ve attended the 3 PM Evensong at Westminster Abbey, I’ve arrived between 2:30 & 2:45pm.

I agree 15-30 minutes early. I love evensong. I attended in York Minster this trip & it was sublime. I've been to Westminster & enjoyed, too.

We’ve been a couple times and arrived about 30 minutes early to get at the head of the line. That way we sat in the quire beside the choir.

That's good to know ... I plan to attend on a Tuesday next April, their site says Evensong starts at 5:00pm so will join the line/queue by 4:30pm to hopefully get 2 front row seats.

as is often the case you'll be in the Quire at the Abbey. So everybody pretty much gets a front row seat. (if not, I prefer to be one row back as it is higher)

I advise planning to arrive at least 30 minutes early. It took us longer to find the entrance than we'd anticipated, so we barely made it. The building is very large, so when you have to walk around from the wrong side it takes a while! The service was well worth attending.

Just for information purposes, the entrance for the Evensong service is on the side of the abbey where the gift shop is located. You just queue at the gate. There is a sign.

Has anyone attended Evensong on Christmas Day? That's our plan for this year, just wondering if the crowd will be larger or smaller than on a normal day.
