I will be in London in May and I'm looking for suggestions of what to do in the evenings. This will be my 6th visit to London. Of course going to a West End show is top of my list. I do love going to shows and have pretty much seen all the usual suspects. This list includes Hamilton, The Play that Goes Wrong, Mouse Trap and Harry Potter. I don't want to see something that is on Broadway or that travels around the US. I volunteer usher at my local theater so I get to see all the touring Broadway shows. I would love to see or do something that is quintessentially London/British. I do love concerts and music as well. I'm looking forward to hearing your suggestions, thanks so much!
If you’re into classical music, have a look to see what’s on at the South Bank, the Barbican, St John’s Smith Square or the Wigmore Hall. All of these offer wonderful concerts with world class musicians.
Other great London theaters are the National, the Royal Court, the Old Vic and the Young Vic. A good source for all entertainment in London is the online magazine Time Out London. https://www.timeout.com/london
Check the concerts at St Martin in the fields. The cafe in the crypt has nice casual meals too.
In particular, Ian McKellen is going to be appearing in “Player Kings” at Noel Coward Theatre. It would be an opportunity to see a great British actor.

I usually check various websites (e.g., Theatremonkey, Timeout, Playbill, etc.) to see what is upcoming and I often look for shows with well-known actors. I also check to see what is on at the National Theatre; they often have plays that you won’t see in the U.S.
Check the Globe Theatre to see what’s on. Shakespeare performed at the site of the original theatre is
quintessentially English! London is full of theatres, look at Time Out London to see what is happening and coming up in theatre, music, exhibitions etc.
Might see if Witness For The Prosecution will still be on stage in May. Can’t get more British than Agatha Christie. Staging is well done. Throughly enjoyed seeing it.
Here’s a great list of smaller theatres;

This website is helpful: https://www.whatsonstage.com/. Can look at West End and Off West End.
Lastly for music recitals, etc check listings for Wigmore Hall, Bush Hall, St Martins In The Fields and countless other venues. https://londonist.com/london/music/where-to-watch-classical-music-concerts-in-london
Claudia,
Thank you for the link listing all the music venues. I already had tix to a concert at St Martin in the Fields for a trip in April but thanks to you, I discovered a show at the Barbican, too, that will be quite unique. This is the second time today that info shared on this forum helped me significantly with this trip!
Glad to know Forum responses have been helpful. Might I also suggest you look at these websites for London:
