Euston Station to Watford Junction - Underground or Train?

Hello,

Planning a possible visit to Harry Potter studios. Looks like the easiest oublic transit is from Euston Station to Watford Junction and then the shuttle bus to the studios.

It looks like I could use an Oyster card for the trip. However, from what I can tell there are direct trains and ones that are part of the London tube/overground system.

Would an Oyster Card work for both or only the tube system trains or could I hop on any train going from Euston station to Watford Junction?

Thank you!!!

You can use Oyster on either the Overground or rail service between Euston and Watford Junction. I did this last year; the rail service is faster than the Overground service.

From the West Midlands FAQs:

You can use Oyster Season Tickets or Oyster/Contactless “Pay As You Go” (PAYG) on London Northwestern Railway trains between London Euston and Watford Junction, including intermediate stations.

the orange Overground trains are really only for use if you want to go especially slowly or if there is an issue on the mainline trains.

The mainline (London Northwestern Railway) trains are not only much faster but also more frequent and more comfortable.

Either work.

Depending on where you are staying it may be that an Underground + Overground route not via Euston could be favourable. Won't save much if any time but may be cheaper.
