Eurostar tickets this pricey 7 months ahead?

Hi All,

It is my first time heading to Europe in October 2026. I am currently researching the Eurostar ticket prices from London-Paris one way.

I intend to go Bayeux from London, therefore I am wanting to buy the London-Paris sector first via Eurostar.

Looking at friday 23rd October 9:30am departure in October, it is approx. $130euro per person one way. Is it normally that expensive even 7 months out?

Thanks

What day in October?

A couple weeks ago I paid $80 for London to Rotterdam in October.

Just be careful for clarity, you are using $ and euro together. Those are different currencies.

In the UK some/most schools have their autumn mid-term break from Monday October 27 until October 31. My guess is that lots of people will already take Friday October 23 off from work/school to leave on holiday early. Popular travel times lead to the high prices you now see.

Using pricing in euros, I'm seeing lowest at 9:31 for € 151, and 10:31 for €131. There are some less expensive trains departing earlier or later.

23rd October will be a very expensive day to travel on Eurostar. As stated above it will be the last day of term for many UK schools for a week's holiday. I am currently trying to book flights on 22nd to Malaga for the half term holiday with family and prices are significantly higher than only a day or two earlier. Because we can we are flying out on Tuesday 20th to save significantly. If you can move your planned travel date forward a few days you will find cheaper fares.

Just to check, are you planning to go to Bayeux to see the tapestry? If so, it will be in the British Museum then.

A reminder before you book an early morning Eurostar ticket. Check-in at St. Pancras Station is 75-90 minutes prior to departure for security and UK/France passport control.

The pricing seems to vary quite a bit.

I bought Eurostar Plus tickets for London to Amsterdam for early October for $160.

Thanks all for your clarification,

My plan was:

  • My parents and I are arriving into London afternoon the 15th Oct. With the jetlag this day would be a relax day.
  • 7 full days in London 16-22nd (my wife and I first time to Europe)
  • Head to Bayeux for 3 nights on the 23rd October from London for D-Day and Mont St Michel
  • Head to Paris for 7 nights after Bayeux.

Working backwards by looking at the train from Paris - Bayeux, I think the ideal time for me would be the 2:59pm train departing St Lazare, and arriving at Bayeux at 5:14pm. My BnB check-in is 6pm, and would allow for a relaxing evening before the tours the next day. To accommodate the 2:59pm train from Paris, the 9:30am Eurostar from London arriving 12:59pm at Gu Nord seems ideal, giving us ample time for the transfer from Gu Nord to St Lazare, as it is my first time.

If I attempt to save costs by cutting London by 1 day and heading to Bayeux on 22nd instead, I would save approximately 240Euro across the 4 of us. However that would mean 1 shorter day in London. What is your opinion? Swallow the cost and enjoy 1 more day of London?
