Eurostar tickets from London or Ashford to Paris

We're flying in to Heathrow in September, but going directly to Rye and spending three nights there, then to Paris

It's only a 20 minute train trip from Rye to Ashford International. I've checked the Eurostar site and it says the one way fare from Ashford to Paris for Thursday, September 8, at 9:55AM is $104. The same ticket for Thursday, June 9, is $174. Does this mean that it's much cheaper to buy a Eurostar ticket three months in advance? If so, how long can I wait before the fare goes up. I don't see a reduced fare for seniors. Can Eurostar ticket be purchased from Rick Steves Europe or from any other site at a lower cost?

Tickets on the Eurostar are much cheaper if bought well in advance. Sometimes you can get them six months ahead. My friend did that and paid around £40 from London to Paris.

Much cheaper as soon as the ticket is released - try for at least 90-120 days -. They never get cheaper, the price only goes one way - up.

The other concern is that very very few Eurostars stop at Ashford these days so if there were to be any problem with your 9:55 train you would either cool your heels until about 3 in the afternoon or take the train into Ebbsfleet or St Pancras.

Doesn't mean it is a bad plan - you should just know the potential hazard.

Also, depending on time of day will depend on the price!!! I booked a mid afternoon for $45 US!!

I bought my tickets thru the Eurostar site.

Eurostar ticket prices in 2nd class range from Janet's low of $45 (limited seats at the price) up to $280 full fare, which you might be stuck paying on short notice. Eurostar discontinued their senior discounts one month ago. If you're ready to commit now to a specific train departure, you'll get the best price by booking ahead; they don't go down later.
