Eurostar service disruption Oct 8

According to the live chat I had today on the Eurostar site, they will be doing points maintenance on that day. I wondered why there was NO availability for any train all day, this far out. The rep did say that they may schedule trains for part of the day as that date nears.

Just thought I'd give a heads up for anyone making plans to travel on that date. We looked at alternate modes (plane/ferry/bus), but frankly didn't like any of them. So we'll just change our hotel reservations for a few of our stays, adding an extra day in London so we can leave a day later, and reducing a day in one of our later cities. Arrgghh.

Thank you for this post! I just sent an email to Eurostar puzzled. This IS our travel day from Paris to London and the rail was the plan. What would you suggest as he best back up? Wait and hope they open up seats or air?

Ramblin on is correct when he says that a lot can happen in 6 months. But I don't care to haunt the eurostar site on a weekly basis hoping that the date might open up. And I don't want to risk waiting and finding out that I'm too late to move the dates on my existing hotel reservations if it doesnt.

We had wiggle room built in later in our itinerary (an extra day in Munich). So we ended up cutting the first day there, staying an extra day in London (because who can't easily fill an extra day there. Lol) And we slid our Paris and Amboise reservations forward one day. So it worked out - it just took a while on the computer.

Oh, and when you're booking your eurostar tickets: it required Verified by Visa (or the Mastercard equivalent) when we booked . You might want to set that up ahead of time if you don't already have it. If you can't shift your dates, or don't want to wait it out, I'd look at flying.
