Esher - transportation options

For the last few days of our trip to Europe we will be staying in Esher for the UK Honey Show. We are taking the train from London to Esher on either Thursday evening or Friday morning and staying until Saturday when I guess we'll just take a taxi to Heathrow. We are booked at the Albert Arms.

Is it possible to walk everywhere? The show is at the Sandown racecourse, so we would need to get there and to restaurants. I prefer not to rent a car and have to deal with driving on the left in traffic.

And what may be the least expensive way to get to the airport?

Any my last question - is there anything else to do around Esher, maybe on the train line? My husband is the beekeeper and I may want to head off on my own during the day.

Thanks!

You should be able to walk everywhere from the Albert Arms. The racecourse is less than a mile to walk and there is a pavement (sidewalk) along the road.

Hampton Court is only about 3 miles away and would make a lovely day out , of you've not been. There's no direct bus service, but a taxi shouldn't be too expensive.

The cheapest way to get to Heathrow is by bus to Kingston upon Thames and then another bus to heathrow.

The next cheapest is to catch a train to London waterloo and underground to Paddington and tehn train to Waterloo.

Unfortunately cheap doesn't equate with ease of travel...
