England with children in June

Hi all,
Looking for some advise as I start to plan our trip.

We have a wedding to attend in Devon on June 25, 2016. There will be four of us travelling- myself, my husband, our four year old daughter, and our 8 month old daughter.

I'm thinking of 10 days (plus travel days), splitting our time between London and Devon.

Would love any advice!

Thanks!

June is holiday time, and Devon is a seaside holiday location. You could do a lot worse than one day on the beach, diggiing sandcastles and paddling in the sea. Your wedding guests should be able to recommend a good nearby beach.

That's an absolutely perfect date for a wedding. It is not my anniversary but it has very special associations for me.

(returning to the topic at hand)

A good part of the country for a lovely event at a good time of the year.

Are you in the wedding party? Have you given consideration to clothes?

For the reasons given above (school holidays) when you get everything tied down try to work on your reservations before the middle of January when an English(wo)man's thoughts turn to summer holiday preparation and everything gets booked up.

Is this your first visit to the UK, England or Devon?

More to come...

London is also lovely in June with the late lingering daylight, people out walking with children in strollers. If you are considering renting an apartment, I can highly recommend this one:

We spent a week there last September. We loved the location--- a 5- minute walk to the Thames Path which allows a traffic-free walk along the river, very nice especially with children. To access public transport, we could walk a row Tower bridge and catch Bus 15 by the Tower of London to get to Trafalgar Square and other sites on the way, or walk away from the river 5 minutes to the Bermondsey Tube stop on the Jubilee Line.

Arrival is stress- free as Karen will arrange for you to be met at the airport by a driver who has the apartment keys. It costs a bit extra (£70) but is well worth it. Are you bringing child seats?

Thanks for the responses.
We are planning to bring our own car seats as we will need them for the Devon area- we are thinking of staying near Teignmouth as that is where my husband's friend (the groom) is staying, although the wedding is in Modbury.
He is not in the wedding party, so we are very flexible.
Thank you for the apartment link, I will check it out!

Ohhh! I live near Modbury, it is lovely! (I am an American now living in Plymouth). Devon is heavenly, and you can easily spend all your time here, although London is always fun too, of course. There are wonderful things to do with your daughters - lovely gentle farm visits with animals to pet (Pennywell Farm). The beaches as mentioned earlier are gorgeous - you are near to Bigbury beach which is one of our favourites, with two sides and a spit down the middle which gets covered at high tide. Much more to tell you if you want it...I'll get back with more later this weekend. Feel free to contact me directly as well! -Sabrina at Plymouth Wayfarer dot com

Thanks for he advice everyone (especially Sabrina!)

We have decided to fly into Heathrow and stay in London for 4 nights, then venture to Devon (Modbury) for a week. We will train back to Heathrow and stay the night in an airport hotel, before flying home bright and early. I have booked accommodations for all parts of the trip :)

Now, to keep my eye out for semi affordable flights and start researching the sights.

I don't know where you will be flying from, but British Airways has flights from Montreal to London innlate June for CAD$3322 for 2 adults, 1 child, and an infant. That is the non-stop flight both ways.
