England and France accommodations for 3-4 adults

Hello, Does anyone have suggestions for how to book accommodations for 3-4 adults in England (specifically the Marylebone area) and France (Normandy area)? Having a hard time finding rooms/apartment hotels etc for a reasonable price. Thank you.

When you find places that seem suitable, see if you can find a website for the lodging places and check rates there. Sometimes there are significant savings from direct reservations (but not always).

Define reasonable price.

In England look at the Premier Inn website. Haven’t been to France in ages so can’t help.

Where in the UK are you thinking of visiting. That may help to give targeted responses. Also what do you term as a reasonable price? That would also be helpful.

I've updated areas we are going to in my original post. For hotels, we have to book two rooms for our family so we are looking more at "aparthotels" for rent. We'd like to spend no more than $300 a day if possible.

is that $300 US, Canadian or Australian? If US it is about £235, on the quite low side for central London for one hotel room - can't speak to aparthotels. But Marylebone is quite a small area, maybe you could expand to other areas nearby like Marble Arch (likely less expensive), Paddington (could go either way) St Johns Wood (probably up), Swiss Cottage (possibly down), Mayfair (up), Soho (either way), Fitzrovia (bargains can be had and others here have found them)

For Normandy area I would stay in Bayeux…..very convenient to Normandy beaches and a charming town to explore……Hotel Churchill and we found a wonderful airbnb there last year.

OP, please don't take this as criticism, but is there a reason you're not using AirBnB? That site seems to be a perfect solution to your inquiry. We use them almost exclusively for our long European trips, and with rare exception they work very well.

Hi, tcollier, I can't help with Normandy (although I use Google maps with very good success to find hotels), but in London, you might consider Premier Inns. This is a local chain of hotels that are consistently clean, affordable and very comfortable. I've stayed at them in both Scotland and London, and have always been pleased with the room.

I know there is a Hub by Premier Inn located in that area. And there are also several Premier Inns within a 10 minute walk of Westminster. I stayed at the Premier Inn County Hall, located very near the south of the of Westminster Bridge and really had a nice stay there. My price was around £141 per night (this was in March so of course timing matters).

One of the additional benefits of PIs is that they have family rooms, which can sleep 3-4 people. You can find a listing here of their family-friendly hotels. https://www.premierinn.com/gb/en/hotels/england/greater-london/london/family-hotels-in-london.html

Premier Inns only allow a max of 2 adults per room. You can also have up to 2 children. Travelodge allows max 3 adults per room. Travelodge is ok but not as nice as Premier Inn.

Although not in your desired area, The Resident Kensington in London has rooms that accommodates 4 adults. You did not say when you expect to be in London so I am not certain it will meet your desired budget but it may come close. Plus, if you sign up for membership (free), you get 15% off your booking.

Helen, you're right—thanks for the correction! I could have sworn someone said that 3 adults were allowed, but the PI website has that in their FAQs.

Mary, that's interesting about the Resident Kensington. I might look into that for next year. Thanks!

A few things....

London....Marylebone is a fairly expensive area.

For real aparthotels, look at chains....Staybridge Suites, Hyatt House, Citadines, Wilde by Staycity, Staycity, Residence Inn.

For Apartment run like hotels, look for "Managed Apartments"

As for the Resident Kensington, I know most of the rooms at that hotel--I've stayed there over 300 nights through the years--and even the largest room would be a tight fit for four adults. Two adults and two kids, yes, four adults I'd doubt they accept that reservation. You can easily get two rooms and they can set some rooms up with either one bed or two. It's a great hotel but their rates have gone very high. $300 will not cover it anymore except possibly in winter.

You say four adults.....how are they related? Two couples? One couple and two adult kids needing separate beds?
