Is anyone aware of any planning for a major celebration of the end of World War I in 2018? I attended the Remembrance Day celebration in London last year and was deeply moved. Is there going to be a larger scale remembrance/celebration or will the standard Remembrance Day event be it? If this will be a once in a lifetime special event I will attend.
11 November 2018 is the last of the six key commemoration dates in the Government programme (the fifth one is 31 July 2017 – commemorative event marking the start of the 3rd Battle Ypres (Passchendaele) at Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium).
The 'official' websites are https://www.gov.uk/government/topical-events/first-world-war-centenary and https://www.1418now.org.uk/ but there isn't anything yet detailed for 2018.
Marco:
Thank you for your response. I will be monitoring the two sites that you mention over the next 16 months. My guess is that there will be a major program commemorating the end of World War I that would be worthy of a trip to London.
