Embankment Tube Station Question

This should be easy: We arrive at Heathrow and will be taking the Tube to Lambeth North. My recall from making this switch last time is that there is a major elevation differential and long walk when switching from the Piccadilly to the Bakerloo at Piccadilly Circus. I know you can switch to the District at Hammersmith by just crossing the platform. Does anyone know how involved the physical connection from District to Bakerloo is at Embankment? We will each be carrying a full convertible backpack, plus jetlag. Thanks in advance.

Escalators and stairs but not much of a walk down corridors is how I would summarize it. All the escalators have been replaced recently.

Thank you, that is useful knowledge. A side benefit of switching to the District line would be for us to see if in fact a ravenous horde all comes aboard at Sloane Square and South Kensington stations...seemingly appropriate after our having been awake for 24 hours.

Gilbert and Sullivan reference (Iolanthe, "Nightmare Song"). One of the interesting things we found by visiting London was seeing various locations and such referred to in their repertoire, and understanding them a bit more (also some classic rock references). A but surprised it's one of the locals who questioned my reference.
