Looking at Google Map it shows Tottenham Court Rd tube station has Elizabeth Line. It also shows another Elizabeth Line spot that says ticket office further down the street from the tube station. Does that mean I have to buy ticket at the ticket office rather than the Tottenham Court Rd tube station that has other tube lines? I want to take the Elizabeth Line both to Slough train stop and also to Heathrow (on different days). Thanks.
Some tube stations have multiple entrances some distance apart. They all connect underground. TCR station doesn't have a manned ticket office. But there are ticket machines and help points.
But you don't need to buy a ticket - you can just tap your contactless credit or debit card to pay for travel. Single tickets are more expensive than contactless.
No tickets necessary.
Use contactless payment the same as you would on the tube or buses. It will save you money in the long run.
Elizabeth line platforms are very long. In the core section between Paddington and Liverpool Street one end is co-located with an existing Underground station for transfers. The other end is often a new access building (and in some cases links to a different station). These are usually marked on maps referring just to the Elizabeth line as it would be a long walk to the other services.
The Elizabeth line bypasses Oxford Circus as this would have been overwhelmed. However, the new entrances at Dean Street (TCR) and Hanover Square (Bond Street) are not so far away.
In another post you say you are going to Windsor. However you pay you through "ticket" to Windsor from TCR- not TCR to Slough then Slough to Windsor. The latter would be more expensive.
Do you mean I should go to TCR station for the Elizabeth line, tap on there, go to Slough, transfer there for shuttle to Windsor Castle and tap off when I get off the shuttle? Also, going to Heathrow with Elizabeth line from TCR station, I should tap on at TCR and tap off at Heathrow, right? Thank you so much
You change trains and plaforms at Slough and take a train to Windsor & Eton Central. And yes, you tap off at Windsor & Eton Central (no barrier gate, so don't forget or you'll be charged the maximum fare).
Going to/from Tottenham Court Road you tap to pass the barrier on entry and exit. Arriving at Heathrow, there's a barrier gate, so you tap there as you exit.
