Staying a week in Edinburgh the end of March. Want to make a day trip south to see Hadrians wall. Doesn't look like tours start until April. How would be the best way to do this ourselves? Will have to be by bus or train, we're too chicken to drive.

Hi Lori, I think that should look for day trips out of Carlisle or Newcastle. You can get to either of these cities by train. I found this company and this one both based in Newcastle, I believe. In the summer time this is easy to do without a car. You could also email Visit Northumberland or the tourist office in Carlisle and ask for a tour operators.
