Eating near Globe Theater

Will be in London beginning of Sept., 2018. We are looking for recommendations for eating near the Globe Theater as we will be attending an evening performance of "Othello." Thank you,
Gladys

It's a 10-minute walk to the Borough Market. The stalls will probably be closing if you want to eat before an evening performance but several pubs will be open. The ancient Anchor Pub is closer and on the water. There are many other drink-and-dine spots in this tourist area. I use Google Maps. I search for the Globe, then tap Nearby and find lists of restaurants and pubs. All are shown on the map and most have links so I can explore the menus.

If you like middle eastern food Tas, pretty much next door to the theatre, is nice. They are aware that many diners are heading to the Globe and will ensure you’re served in time.

They also have a branch on Borough High Street which I prefer. It’s roomier and a bit more laid back. That’s about a ten minute walk away.

Enjoy the play. The Globe is great!

You can't eat nearer than the Swan which is literally next door/attached to The Globe!

Enjoy the Globe, we love it! Don't forget to hire a cushion if sitting down and for maximum comfort also a backrest - improves the sitting and watching the play experience no end! (Otherwise the seats, which are wooden with no backrest and while 'period authentic', are not that comfy after two and a half - three hours!).

Tas at this location was a huge help to us.

My daughter and I had gotten out of the Globe thinking that there would be taxis all over the place just like they had been at the beginning of the play. We walked around the corner and found nothing, had no working phones yet, and she was dressed up but getting colder by the minute. My daughter learned that the Globe really IS an open-air theatre on a Sept evening, we were lucky we were given blankets, but we were back to being cold again while trying to find a taxi. We went to Tas, had dinner, they called a taxi for us, and we were happy to see our hotel without a big long walk.

They had a great selection and great service, and not crowded either, but we were there later in the evening.

Have fun!

We've eaten at the Swan several times while walking the South Bank. The food is good enough, but it's really entertaining to watch the interaction among the waiters. Since they are quite theatrical, I suspect most of them are actors making extra money. It's a fun place to enjoy a meal.

Based on one of the posts, I am now concerned about transportAtion after the theater.

I didn't see that post.

If you have curtain up at 7:30 a 3 hour run (they haven't given the running time yet but most plays run 2 and a half to 3 hours) will break up around 10:30.

Plenty of buses, plenty of tubes at that time of early evening. London really never sleeps.

Cabs are of course also available into the evening.

Where will you be staying that could be a problem?

We just ate at Zizzi, which is a good Italian place right on the river about five minutes from the Globe. I'd make a reservation. We saw Othello on opening night and it's wonderful!

We're also seeing Othello at the Globe a little later, can't wait! Everything is new to us at this point so good to hear about an option like the Borough Market being close.

Already reserved the seat cushions, but I didn't see an option for seat backs? Is that onsite? I can see others in my group needing that.

I pick a cushion and back rest up once I'm at the theatre, have never needed to pre book. Shouldn't be a problem. I've sat both with and without the backrest (always on a cushion though). 'With' is better!
