Eating at a (green) cabman shelter

Has anyone ordered food from a green painted cabmen's shelter? These historic buildings (huts, actually) are scattered around London but are scarcely noticed by anyone except the overly curious. Here is a link where you can view a video of these interesting facilities which might result in a considerably reduced food bedget on your next trip to London (sarc).

Because the food served at these shelters is rarely, if ever, reviewed by foodie blogs and websites I would like to hear your opinion of your dining experience. I am particularly interested in hearing from persons who have recently dined at the shelter on Chelsea Embankment. The shelter was rebuilt several years ago after decades on non-use, and from what I have read it caters to clients that are less "cabmen" than the other shelters and redesigned their menu to reflect this. Is this true?

I am looking forward to eating a bacon roll on the next trip to London and don't want to miss the opportunity by patronizing a shelter that is more pastry than meat and potatoes.

Thanks for your comments.

Did in the late 90’s. Thought it was fun and unique but I was young and it was my first visit to London so everything was fun! Ah youth!

Cafe Pier is situated in a former cabman shelter that became redundant when they were no longer allowed to park outside. So not really for cab drivers any more.

The Rob's London young tube channel has a 6 month old video looking in depth at all the shelters.
