Easton Walled Gardens or Burghley House Gardens

Easton Walled Garden is a lot smaller than Burghley.. The gardens have been lovingly restored over the last 20 years (and still are being restored). They are a lovely English garden, with an emphasis on sweet peas (as well as a traditional rose garden) .

Burghley House gardens are long established and are surrounded by masses of parkland with a lake and fallow deer, so there is a lot more to explore. The South Garden is lovely and there is also a sculpture garden and there ius the Garden of Surprises with its water features.

It's difficult to pick as it all depends on what you like about gardens...

wasleys, thanks for your expanded response. That is exactly the kind of descriptions I was hoping for. I was trying (failing?) to frame the question to hear what others enjoyed or not, so as to get more of a feel for the places. The Easton Walled Garden photos look amazing. The Burghley House garden photos are either aerial, panaramic or close up which makes it harder to get a sense of being there. Due to timing, I have to choose one or the other. Burghley will be so much more convenient in terms of transportation but Easton is very intriguing. I am more interested in English flower gardens but parklands are always more enjoyable than I expect them to be.

I think that wasleys has got it fairly well.

It isn't clear to me when the visit will be - still this year, or is it the 2027?

If this year note that the 5 star 3 day eventing is coming right up at Burghley (yay!)

If this year I wouldn't go to either. Too flippin' hot, and the ground all over looks like a blow torch has been through - and often has.

We have tons of garden memberships and we simply haven't gone to more than a handful this summer. Can't be doing with it. Today we started heatwave Number Seven.

If next year, and the weather is bearable, I would go to Burghley in a heartbeat. That said I've eaten lunch at the Garden Centre next to Easton Walled Garden and have never been tempted in. Both are about the same travel time for me, not terribly far.

Burghley is a doddle to get to by train or car; you deffo need a car for Easton.

Thanks Nigel for your perspective! It's next Spring. I'm not a last minute plan, haha.
