Easter Weekend

Hello All: We are getting more and more excited about our upcoming trip. We start off in London on the 20th. Our flight arrives around 9:00am. All told, we will only have 1 1/2 days there. It has just dawned on us that will be Easter Sunday. We'd like to get our sightseeing underway as soon as we can on Sunday, but have some concerns about closures. For example, will it be considered a 3-day weekend? Is Monday a day off? Will the "usual" sites be closed? Didn't even think about it when we scheduled our trip.

Oh, its a 4 day weekend, the Friday and Monday are public holidays.
Tourist related things will be fine, often its the start of the season and more seasonal things open at Easter.
Supermarkets, banks and big shops will have more restricted hours.10am till 4 ish

Thanks for the reply, Richard. Since this weekend will "open the season" will all the attractions be very crowded? We've already got our tickets for the Big Bus tour and the Tower of London, and plan on more as we find them. As I mentioned, time is going to be a premium for us.

Easter Sunday is one of two days a year when large shops are not permitted by law to open at all, the other being Christmas Day. Shops don't have to be that large to fall under this. There are exceptions for places like airports.

Thanks Marco. We weren't anticipating doing much shopping, just sightseeing. Hopefully touristy type stuff won't be affected.
